Overview
The Bridgent BDG-IPV043 Impact Protection Vehicle is a critical safety component for road maintenance operations, providing protection for maintenance crews, equipment, and motorists from rear-end collisions at road maintenance work zones. The vehicle is equipped with the internationally recognized STUER-EGGHE crash cushion system, known for its reliability, durability, and proven performance in real-world impact scenarios.
The STUER-EGGHE crash cushion is designed to absorb the kinetic energy of a rear-end collision, decelerating the impacting vehicle in a controlled manner that minimizes injury to the vehicle occupants and prevents the impacting vehicle from penetrating into the work zone. The crash cushion is tested and certified to meet international safety standards for impact attenuation devices.
The crash cushion can automatically rotate and lock at two positions: horizontal (working position) when the vehicle is stationary at a work zone, providing maximum impact protection; and vertical (driving position) when the vehicle is in transit, reducing the vehicle's overall length and height for road travel. The rotation between positions is hydraulically controlled from the cab, allowing the operator to quickly transition between working and driving configurations.
The BDG-IPV043 also features an open work platform at the rear of the vehicle, providing a safe working area for maintenance crews. The platform is equipped with safety railings and non-slip surfaces, and can accommodate tools, materials, and equipment for road maintenance operations.
The warning sign board mounted on the vehicle displays traffic control messages and warning signs to alert approaching motorists of the work zone ahead. The sign board can display different messages depending on the work zone configuration and traffic management requirements.
