Overview
The Bridgent BDG-AS Aggregate Spreader is a precision aggregate distribution machine designed for chip seal, surface dressing, and other applications requiring uniform aggregate coverage across a defined width. The machine's 16 individually controlled discharge gates allow the operator to precisely adjust the spread width and distribution pattern to match the specific requirements of each project.
The 16 discharge gates are arranged across the full spread width of the machine. Each gate can be independently opened or closed by the operator, allowing the effective spread width to be adjusted in increments. This flexibility allows the BDG-AS to treat road widths from narrow rural lanes to full highway lanes without requiring separate equipment.
Each discharge gate is equipped with a micro-adjusting mechanism that allows the gate opening to be finely tuned to control the aggregate flow rate through that gate. This micro-adjustment capability ensures uniform aggregate distribution across the full spread width, preventing the uneven coverage that can occur with fixed-gate spreaders when aggregate flow rates vary across the width.
The aggregate bin capacity and conveyor speed are controlled by the PLC system, with the conveyor speed automatically adjusted based on vehicle speed to maintain the programmed aggregate application rate. The radar speed sensor provides continuous vehicle speed feedback to the PLC, ensuring consistent coverage regardless of speed variations.
The BDG-AS can be used as a standalone aggregate spreader for surface dressing applications, or as an auxiliary machine to supplement the aggregate distribution capacity of chip seal trucks on large projects. The machine's robust construction and simple design make it easy to maintain and operate in demanding field conditions.
